Cruise to da Bahamas-Part 1

The first thing we did as soon as we got on the boat was eat!  They had a fantastic Italian buffet set up so we filled our plates and headed out onto the deck.  We ate our food and watched dolphins playing in the water bellow us.  This is all before the boat even left the port!  We still had a little while until we were allowed to our rooms so we explored and then tanned our pasty white little selves :)

Charleston, SC

Charleston, SC

Day #2 was a fun day at sea.  We tanned some more, ate some more, and played some mini golf.  We even took a Cha Cha lesson!  We had our Elegant dinner that night.  I was a dummy and forgot conditioner AND a blow dryer so my hair looked like a big pile a poo the entire trip :(  After dinner we went to a show and then went and saw the comedian.  Neither were very good but we were just happy to be out after 8 pm!  I did end up getting pretty sea sick this day(along with half of the people on the boat).

Day #3 we watched out of our window as we pulled into Freeport, Bahamas.  I was expecting white sandy beaches, blue water, and palm trees.  I was surprised to see that it was mostly just industrial and really kind of ugly.  We decided that we were going to swim with the dolphins but we didn't want to spend the 200$ per person that the boat was going to charge for booking with them.  So we hopped in a "taxi" and headed over to Lucaya.  The drive was ugly.  It was mostly brown weeds, some ragged pine trees, and ugly orange coconut trees.  Our driver had no idea how to drive a stick shift so the grinding/screeching noise and the fact that we were driving on the wrong side of the road  at 90 mph with no seat belts had me praying for my life.  When we got to Lucaya we could see the UNEXSO facility so we just walked over and paid for our excursion.  We saved a TON of money and we arrived a good 15 minutes before everyone else from our cruise got there so we had time to stand on the dock and watch all the tropical fish swimming around which was pretty fun.

We had to ride on a little boat to the place where the dolphins were.  I don't really like being on boats so I was a little nervous.  The captain of the boat was really funny so that helped.

Ben and I got to go into the water first which was the way to go.  I feel like the second group didn't get to swim as long as us.  I got bit by the sand fleas while we were sitting in the water waiting for our turn to swim but I didn't even notice.  I was too excited!  I got to swim with Exuma and Ben got to swim with Robala and her baby.  He kept getting head butted by the dolphin he was with.  I stayed far enough away that I could still touch them but they couldn't hit me.  I'm kind of a baby about that stuff.  My favorite part was diving under water and watching the dolphin dive down with me.  I only wish that I had brought goggles!  I was lucky that my contacts held up in the salty water or I would have really been in trouble!  We got to make them do some tricks and then Ben and I rode in with them and then they gave us a hug and a kiss.  They are such sweet creatures!

The boat ride in was WAY less intense.  We went and found a little Greek restaurant to eat at for lunch and then did some shopping.  When we went on a cruise to Mexico you can barter with the people selling souvenirs and get some pretty cheap stuff.  That's part of the fun!  But the people in the Bahamas are not willing to barter more than 2$ so it took a lot of fun out of it.  We met this guy carving walking sticks and looked in his shop.  He had these "hand carved" boxes (or so he said) so I bought one of those.  But other than that we really didn't buy much because it was so expensive!  I was so mad when I saw the same box in every other shop.  He totally lied!  I asked him "Did you carve this?"  He said "Oh yes I did everything in here"  LIAR!

Tyson is 10 months and some Sadie funnies...

I love this funny little man!  I hate it when he goes to bed because I just love to see his little face.  We are leaving the kids here when we go on our cruise and I'm dreading it.  I'm going to miss them both SO MUCH!!!

*He's getting really good a copying us.  He copies lots of words and even says some on his own.  He can say clearly Mom, Baby and All Done.  He also says (not as clearly but still understandable) Da, Sadie, Ty Ty (When he sees a picture of himself), Hi, Bye Bye, arms up and many more!  It looks like he'll follow in his sisters footsteps with speech.

*Not walking yet!  (Sadie was walking at 9 months)  When we have him hold our hands to walk him around he just side steps.  We've noticed that he is a LOT more cautious than Sadie.  Which is good because she was always covered in bruises and scrapes.  He's only had a couple of good bumps.

*He is extremely afraid of heights.  He completely freezes on the hard changing tables (like the ones at stores) He starts to shake and his toes point because he's holding his body so stiff.

*He likes to chase the vacuum

*NO teeth yet!  He keeps getting fevers and drooling and he's been fussy pretty much this whole month.  Poor boy!  I wish they would just show up already!

*He can eat pretty much anything.  He is really good at mashing stuff up with his gums so I give him all kinds of fun things to try.  The only thing he HATES is fish.  I gave him some Tilapia and he started gagging.  He's not a big fan of baby food though.

*He has a raspy old man voice.

*He had to go to the emergency room this month because he had a fever of 104.5!!  Scary!!!

*In size 4 diapers.

*Wearing size 6-9 clothes.

*He sucks his thumb and tugs on his (or my) hair.

*He's into shredding paper for fun.

*His back is REALLY ticklish

*He loves to be looked at and played with.  He lights up if he sees you looking at him.

*He learned how to throw a ball.  He gets really proud of himself when he throws it far.

I Love you Little Man!  Slow down on the growing PLEASE!

Alright!  Now for some Sadie funnies...
****This first one is not for the easily offended.  If you don't like hearing about body functions then skip it!

Ben took her potty yesterday and she pooped.  He said something like "Wow that's a big one!" and she said "Save that.  We need to show it to mommy."

While sweetly finger painting she suddenly looked up at me and growled "Murderer!"

Oh man!  I know there are more but its 2am so my mind is blanking!  I'll just have to do more later.

9 Months!

Tyson turned 9 months today!!  He had a Dr's appointment today and only 1 shot!  He weighed 16 lbs and was 27 inches tall.  Some fun facts about Ty this past month:

*He learned how to stand on his own!
*Eats everything that we eat and a lot of stuff we don't eat like ummm EVERYTHING he can get his grubby little hands on
*He likes shredding things
*Cruises along the furniture
*Pushes the stool and walks with it
*Talks a ton and uses his pointer finger to emphasise his point
*Throws his head back and lets out this really loud fake laugh
*No teeth yet!  Not even close!
*Wearing size 4 diapers.  Not because 3's are too little but because that boy pee's like no other!  Even if we change him in the middle of the night he is still soaked in the morning.
*Is extremely ticklish on his back
*Makes a break for it everytime I open the door
*In size 6-9 clothes
*He likes to flirt with the girls ;)

Not much has changed from last month.  He's still just a happy happy boy!

Gone...

Ben left today.
He got in a black Mustang and drove away.
He'll be gone for (hopefully) only 2 months but during that time we wont be able to talk.
That's the part that is going to be hard for me.
It was a rainy, melancholy kind of day.
To cheer myself up after he left I made myself a cup of hazelnut hot chocolate, listened to the rain, and watched Grey's Anatomy.
  It helped.
I needed a day to mope around.
 Tomorrow will be better.

My Big Helper!

Sadie decided the best way to clean the dining room would be to dump the entire bucket of water on the floor.

We had a great time slipping, sliding, and scrubbing.  I was so proud of her today!  She was such a hard worker.  She was really scrubbing!  Then we put towls on our feet and "Skied" to dry it all up.  After that we vacuumed, dusted, and washed the couch.  It was a busy day!

Tyson 8 months!!

*No teeth yet!
*Won't eat baby food :(
*Will eat "big people food" like frozen peas, cut up blueberries, and bananas.  I think he likes being able to feed himself.
*Pulls himself up
*Climbs!  Climbed some stairs at the Children's Museum and climbed up on Sadie's pink chair and onto the couch.
*Eats everything off of the floor.  I have to sweep a couple times a day to try and keep him safe.
*Says Ma, Da, and Ba.
*Crawls at lightning speed
*Growls when he gets frustrated
*Throws massive tantrums.  I'm kind of worried about how this one is going to pan out in the future.
*Eats a lot of dirt
*Blows raspberries
*If he sees any bare skin he will zerbert it like crazy!
*Loves bath time
*Hates nap time.  When I lift him to go into his crib is usually when we see the tantrum.
*In size 3 diapers right now but needs to be in size 4.  We just have tons and tons to use up still so we haven't changed yet.
*Hates having a dirty diaper.
*Likes to pull our hair.  He uses my hair as a comfort object.
*Loves Sadie
*Hates his car seat
*Loves his blanky's.  I love it when he curls up in it and sucks his thumb.  It means sleep is close!
*The boy loves getting his groove on.  He's always dancing!
*He started clapping during the super bowl and hasn't stopped.  He claps for himself every time he eats!
*He has to have the music thing on in his room to get to sleep
*Does a killer motor boat impression
*Gives nice big open mouthed kisses
*He's a little obsessed with Missy.  He growls at her and follows her around.  She's still not much of a fan of his.

Happy 8 months Tyson!  We love you squishy!

Mornings with Sadie

Sadie wakes up and instantly starts yelling "My Mommy!  My Mommy!" she waits in her bed for me to come and pick her up and give her a big hug.  I'm not sure why she doesn't get out of bed but I don't mind it.

She stands up in her bed and says "I woke up"  I usually say "Are you awake?"  "Did you sleep well?"  She says "Yes where's Ty?"  I say "downstairs" or "in his room" and then "Do you want to go potty?" (She wont do ANYTHING until she knows the exact location of her brother) While she does her thing on the potty I usually read her a story.  She like "Pooh".  Ironic right?

Then we go downstairs and find Tyson.  She gets all excited when she sees him and says "Hi handsome boy!  Hi Ty!"  He gets equally excited for about 2 seconds and then crawls away.

Then I say "What do you want for breakfast?"  She'll dance around and say "Cereals!" or "Hotmeal!"  Which ever one I decide to give her (usually oatmeal) gets eaten mostly with her hands and then she yells "I'm a mess!  I need a bath!!"

At this point she strips on the way up the stairs leaving a trail of oatmeal covered jammies behind her.  I turn on the bath and put her in.  She stands against the far wall and says "Keep it away from me K?"  I then start pushing the cold water back to the drain and say "Stay away from my bug!  Stay away!"  She yells "YEAH  stay AWAY!" As soon as she knows the water is warm she jumps under the faucet and tells me "Don't turn it off."  Eventually I have to turn it off and she yells at me.  Then she tells me about her dream from the night before "the worms."  I say "what did the worms do?"  Then she says "they eat me!"  I say "Oh no!  Did you squish them?"  She says "Noooo..."  (dreams vary)

Every morning is pretty much the same and I wouldn't have it any other way :)  I love my mornings with Sadie :-)
