Tyson's FIRST Birthday!!

I've been so busy lately that I totally forgot to post about Tyson's birthday!  I'm such a slacker.

We had a joint birthday party with Tyson and his buddy Ace.  Ace is moving soon :( so I figured it would be our only chance to have a birthday party for the both of them.

The party was originally supposed to be on Saturday but they were both sick so we postponed it to Monday.  It decided to rain Monday though so we weren't able to do any of the games we had planned on doing.  It ok though it was still fun!

We had a few of our friends over to eat and have cake & ice cream.  The boys were cute.  Ace dived right into his cake but Tyson was a little more hesitant.  He stared at it for a while and then he kind of poked at it for a little while.

Tyson's 12 month check up went well.  He weighed 19 1/2 lbs and was 28 inches tall.

Some fun facts about Tyson:
He helps me sweep
He likes to close the dish washer whenever it's open
He dances and sings
His favorite show is Yo Gabba Gabba
He has 4 and 1/2 teeth now
He said Pizza today (Man after my own heart)
He grunts like and looks like a baby gorilla :)
He fights me like crazy when I'm trying to change him
His favorite toys are cars, 2nd favorite balls, and 3rd favorite books
He can sign all done, more, and thank you
He can mimic lots of different phrases and words
He throws some awesome tantrums
He fits best in size 9m-12m
Wears size 4 diapers
Loves to mess with Missy's face while she sleeps
Still sucks his thumb

I LOVE him SO MUCH!

Our Wild Adventure...

Our day started normal.  We woke up, had breakfast, went to the gym, and then came home.  While Sadie was eating her snack she said "I want to go to the zoo."  So we dropped everything and hopped in the car and headed to the zoo(2 hrs away). The sky was dark and it was already noon but we went anyways.

When we got to the zoo it was 2 already and the zoo closed at 5.  I ran with the kids as much as I could so that we could see everything.  It was so fun!  Tyson loved going fast. Despite my running we only made it to the middle of the zoo.  That zoo is so big!  I love it that the animals have room to roam around but it sure makes it hard to see everything!

Someone that was leaving gave us 10 tickets.  We went and saw the dinosaur exhibit and it was awesome!  The  dinosaurs were huge and they moved and growled.  When the T-Rex growled at us Sadie said "scuse you dinosaur"  It was pretty cute. The dinosaurs were so realistic the triceratops was even munching on a bush!  Two of the dinosaurs squirted us with water.  To say that Tyson didn't like to be squirted is a major understatement.  The boy went postal.  Luckily there was a "dinosaur dig" set up where you could dig for real fossils and keep what you found.  The kids loved it!  We were there for quite a while just digging and playing around.  That helped Tyson get over the fact that a dinosaur squirted him.

After the dinosaurs we used the rest of the tickets to ride the carousel.  The kids were nervous but excited to be on the carousel.  It was a lot of fun.  I think what I loved the most about this trip was it was all about US.  We didn't have anyone else with us. I didn't bring my camera or phone so I was completely focused on them.  Also, Sadie called the shots.  If she wanted to move we moved.  If she wanted to play with rocks then that's what we did.  We did have any kind of agenda at all and I loved it.

When we got back to our car I realized my phone was dead.  I had half a battery left when I got to the zoo but I think the heat from the car sucked the life out of it.  I was trapped.  The zoo in Ashboro is pretty well hidden.  At one point you have to drive down a dirt road to get to it so it's not like Utah where you have signs helping you.  I had a hard time even finding a gas station.  I finally did find a gas station so we went inside and found a map.  When I got up to the counter I was 31 cents short!  UGH!  I was so mad and frustrated!  The guy was really nice and said it was ok.  I ran back to the car and got the 31 cents but just not having it almost threw me over the edge!

I started driving so I could find some kind of sign that would tell me where I was.  The rain started before I could find anything.  It was so bad that I couldn't even pull over anywhere because I couldn't see the side of the road.  At this exact moment my Sadie decided to start screaming "I need the map!  Daddy told me!  I have to get him from Afghanistan!  Daddy told me!  I need the blue map!"  OVER and OVER again.  Then Ty started screaming because he got his sucker stuck in his hair.  He kept trying to pull it out but that sucker was FUSED to his head. Poor baby.  I was praying real hard at this point hoping for a little break in the weather so that I could get us home.  Heavenly Father must really love me because just then the weather cleared.  That's when I took the picture.  The weather had cleared just enough for me to pull over and first get the sucker out of Ty's hair (took me a while because I had to soak it) second I ripped off part of the map to give to Sadie so that she wouldn't keep bugging me!  Then I figured out where to go (We were an extra HOUR away from home).  When we finally got on the right road we all laughed like crazy people.  Tyson kept saying "Boo" and I would say "Aah" and he would laugh uncontrollably and the Sadie and I would laugh.  It was great!

I love my family!

Sadie's funnies!

S:  Who broke dat?
M:  I don't know!
S:  That's stupdid

Today while I was in primary the nursery leader brought her in to me (for the first time ever).  She VERY LOUDLY announced to the whole primary "Mom!  I just said I HAVE TO GO POTTY!"  Everyone started laughing.  She was pretty embarrassed about it.

I was trying to talk to someone and she was trying to talk to me.  I was ignoring her when finally she got frustrated and yelled "Don't you know you are driving me CRAZY?!"

Tyson 11 Months!

I've been slow about posting Tyson's 11 month progress and in the time that he turned 11 months he sprouted a tooth and started walking!  He took a few steps at 10 months but now he walks around the house like he owns the place.  He even tried running today which was hilarious!  I can't really explain it but I was dying.  He doesn't bend his legs but he moves super fast!  I love it.  It throws me off when I see his little red (strawberry blonde) head bobbing around the corner.

One thing he likes to do is hit me and then fake cry and then give me a kiss.  His kisses are adorable!  Either they are a big wide open mouth kiss or he does this cute pucker/smack kiss.

He hates getting splashed.

He gets shy and puts his head on my shoulder which I sorta love :)

He does NOT like to be left alone.

He uses hair as his lovey.  Even his friend Winston's hair (In all fairness, Winston does have really great hair)

Everything else is pretty much the same! He still wears size 4 diapers, wears 6-9 clothes, and is the best baby boy EVER!  Love you bud :)

You can kind of see his first little tooth poking up here!

Cruise to the Bahamas-Part 2

Day 3:  We arrived in Nassau, Bahamas.  We had no plan or even a slight idea of what we wanted to do this day.  We wandered for a little while until a tour guide swept us up.

This is a fort on top of the island that we did not want to pay to get into so we saw the outside of it.  I guess we aren't really into the historical sites or tours.  There was a pretty good view of the whole island though so it was a pretty good stop.

Trying to get a pic of the view but this stray wouldn't stop licking itself.  So try to ignore that ;)

SUUUUPER attractive right?
The Queens Staircase

We stopped at this crappy beach for about 3 minutes.  The water was FREEZING!

Atlantis-a beautiful resort on our stop.  We decided to ditch the tour at this point and go the beach instead.  We also enjoyed their aquarium.  It was nicer than a lot of the aquariums that we've paid to get into.

I love this!  Caution:  These waters contain predatory sea animals with LARGE TEETH :)  Hammerheads are my favorite!!
This little rope bridge walked right over the sharks.  It was creepy seeing their fins poking up out of the water.

I was blown away by how big the other ships were!!  Our was huge to me until I saw these bad boys!

Yes this tree is growing out of the side of this building.

Bahamian Woman-honors the role of women during years of adversity

Instead of paying for a cab Ben and I decided to walk from Atlantis to our ship.  We had to cross that bridge and walk through a pretty sketchy part of town (see pics above).  I was a little afraid.
The last night had the most beautiful sunset!

He ate the sun

I had Ben run all the way to our room to get my camera so I could take pics of this sunset.  When he got back to me the camera had no batteries.  He was so mad!  This was taken on my camera phone.
