Our little 2 month old!

Our little Sadie Bug is getting so big! We had her 2 month appointment the other day. She was in the 75 percentile for her weight and 25 for her length. Our doctor just laughed when he told me this and said "Well she probably won't be a basketball player" I'm OK with it, I think she's perfect! She is such a smiley baby with tons of personality. I'm so lucky to have a baby that doesn't cry. I don't know what I'm going to do if I get a baby with colick or something. I won't know what to do. She has the bluest eyes and red hair so we call her our little Irish baby. She loves it when I read to her but her favorite thing is the Itsy Bitsy Spider song. She has even started doing the hand motions with me which is so fun to see. Anytime she learns something new I get so proud of her. She also loves the TV. We have to put pillows and blankets in front of her to keep her from watching because she'll do a back bend just to see it. She hates tummy time and the hiccups (which she gets every time she eats) She yells right before she poops which is way funny at home but pretty embarrassing at church. She's really good at sucking her left thumb but punches herself in the face with her right. She twirls her hair when she sucks her thumb. She loves dancing with her Daddy. She said "goo" the other day and we've been trying to get her to say it again ever since but she wont. Those are just a few of our favorite things about her. It would take forever to list everything. We love our little Bug so much!

December!

Wow, this month went by fast! It was a month and a year of firsts for all of us. First of all on Dec. 12th it was our one year anniversary. We celebrated by going out for sushi. I forgot how much I love sushi, while you're pregnant you aren't supposed to eat it but it didn't stop me from craving it the whole time. It was torture! So that was my "first" time eating sushi since pregnancy. Looking back on the year I think its amazing that we started out as two and now we are a family of three. I love it. It really is a miracle to have a baby. I never thought I could love something as much as I love that little girl. It's like love but on a whole new level that doesn't have words to describe it and with this new capacity to be able to love I love my husband so much more too. I'm so thankful that he wanted to marry me! Sadie also experienced a few firsts. We were able to take her off the oxygen so it was her first time being completely wire/tube free. Her blessing was on the 6th so it was her first step to being with us forever. First time meeting Grandma and Grandpa Scott and Uncles Matt and Mic. First Utah State game which she loved, her little eyes were just darting everywhere taking it all in. First cold :( and finally first Christmas! She didn't really get effected much by her first Christmas. She actually just slept all day but it was still fun for us!

Goodbye Bruce, We'll miss you little animal

I'm sad to say that this Tuesday we had to say goodbye to our little Brucey. We got a babysitter (first time leaving the baby with a non-family member, scary!) so that we could go to the Utah State basketball game. We ended up giving her Bruce as payment. I'm just happy he went to a good home. We had to get rid of him because he loved Sadie too much. Unfortunately cats like warm things to cuddle up next to and she's the warmest cuddliest thing in this place. I didn't want to have to worry about where Bruce was every time that we left the room. I've heard of cats suffocating babies by laying on them so with her breathing problems I really couldn't risk it. Also, Sadie's eyes would turn red and puff up whenever he was close to her. I think that she's allergic but Ben doesn't agree. He misses Bruce and said it was like giving away his son. It was a sad day at the Scott home :( .

Sadie's two week appointment

This is just a little update on what's going on with Sadie. We had her two week appointment on Friday. I can't believe she's already two weeks! She's changing so much already which is fun but at the same time really scary. I just want her to stay little forever :( She was in the 70% for her weight and 75% for her height. Hopefully she keeps up with the height thing. Maybe she wont be a small person like her parents. One can only hope! Her lungs are still pretty week. The doctor finally explained it in a way that we would understand, basically since her body was putting so much effort into fighting off the infection the lungs and heart didn't develop how they were supposed to. So now we just have to work on getting her off of it slowly. Yesterday she did 8 hours before she crashed. Its pretty good considering the day before she only did 2. Looks wise she looks just like her Dad. Also there are a lot of similarities between her and her cousin Coltin. Especially when her eyes go all wide. I can't wait for them to meet! She has her nights and days mixed up but its OK because she's just a really good baby all around. She doesn't really cry unless she's really hungry. She smiles all the time and I know its not just gas because a lot of the time its in response to us talking to her. We finally figured out the whole breastfeeding thing which I'm so grateful for. That was one of the most frustrating things I've ever had to learn. For something so natural it sure takes a lot of work. In a way her being in the NICU was sort of good for me because I had a ton of help figuring out how to be a Mom.

Sadie Elizabeth Scott

Born at 9:28pm on November 4th after 11 hours of labor and 1 hour of pushing.

She weighed 8 Ibs 8 Oz and was 20.5 inches long.

A lot of people have been asking about why Sadie was in the NICU so I thought I would just tell our whole story on here. So, here goes...On the 26th of October I had a "false alarm" where I thought my water had broken. We went over to the hospital thinking we would be having a baby only to be sent home 3 hours later. They were unable to get anymore fluid out to test. They tried a lot of different things from swabbing me, checking my pad and having me walk the halls for and hour. They even pushed on her head but still nothing came out. They tried everything so I trusted them when they said it was just a pocket of bath water. Labor didn't start either so I figured they were right. The next few days were fine but by Wednesday I started leaking some fluid. My pants would be wet but I had a doctors appointment on Friday so I decided to wait until then to see if anything was wrong. I mentioned it but she didn't seem concerned. I was at 3 cm and 100% effaced so the doctor stripped my membranes and sent me on my way. On Saturday (Halloween) I went up to the Howl and watched some of the shows with Ben (he was working at the Howl). While I was there I started feeling really sick so I went home to rest. When Ben got home at 3:30am I got up to use the bathroom and I was soaked. So I called over to the hospital to see what I should do. They told me to just come get checked. We got there at 4am the nurse came in and checked me and told me I was 2cm and only 70% effaced. So right away I knew she was an idiot. I should have asked for another nurse but I didn't want to be rude. When she checked the fluid she barely even swabbed me. After that one little attempt she said it wasn't amniotic fluid and said that I could go. Monday at the gym the fluid started turning bloody and just got worse and worse until Wednesday morning I couldn't handle it anymore. I was feeling really sick and I knew something had to be wrong. I was up all night the night before waiting till 8am for my doctors office to open. I called right at 8 and they just told me to go over to the hospital. They decided to keep me because it was only a day before my due date. Throughout labor the babies heart wasn't doing very good her pulse was up in the 200's and they started to talk about doing a C-section. Ben and I said a prayer together and the minute we said amen her pulse dropped down to 160. I love the power of prayer! It was an amazing experience for us. Then I developed a really high fever and they started me on antibiotics. The doctor said that my water had been broken for at least 4 or 5 days and that it was most likely a high tear. When Sadie was born I tried to breast feed but she would get close to me and start freaking out. When we got to mother and baby one of the nurses commented that her color wasn't very good so they took her to the NICU. They said that since the amniotic sac had been broken for so long she most likely got an infection. It got into her blood and lungs so she couldn't breath very well. Thats why she was freaking out. They kept her in the NICU for seven days so that she could go through a round of antibiotics and have her breathing monitored. I guess the pathologist that looked at the placenta called my babies doctor and was like "Is this baby ok?" because the infection was so advanced. He was really worried about her. So thats it. Sadie finished her 7 days of antibiotics on Wednesday and was able to come home. We still don't know how long she'll have to be on Oxygen for but at least she's here! We feel really lucky that it wasn't any worse and we love her more than anything.

It's about time!!

I just realized that I haven't posted ANYTHING for almost a year! Wow! Time flies. So to fill everyone in on my year i'll give you the short version... On Dec. 12, 2008 I married the man of my dreams in the Salt Lake Temple, I love him more and more everyday. People always say the first year is the hardest but I don't know what they're talking about! Life is great. On the 13th of December we left for our honeymoon which was a cruise to Mexico. It was rainy but I still loved it...On February 26th we found out that we are expecting a little addition to our happy family. She's due Nov 5th but we think she'll be here sooner :-) I sure hope so because I don't think she'll fit much longer. We went to see the doctor yesterday and I'm 2 centimeters dialated and 75% effaced! Yay! I would have been pretty upset if there had been no progress. I really want her here before Halloween so I can dress her up. Well I have to go to my baby shower now so more later!

This is me as of a week ago, I look like a pumkin in this shirt but its really comfortable and actually fits me. My face is getting so swollen! I can't wait to lose all this water weight. Hope it comes off fast...
