Perspective

Sometimes when I feel like things are hard I like to read this: http://patrickandashley.blogspot.com/2010/09/answers.html
It inspires me to be a better Mom and it really puts things into "perspective" for me.

NC Zoo

"Ew elephanto bummies!"-Sadie (I really don't know where any of those words came from!)
Since Saturdays family activity was sort of a failure.  We decided to use Ben's day off to check out the North Carolina Zoological Park.  Sadie LOVES animals so we knew it would be a hit. (It was!)

Even the 2 hour ride there was enjoyable.  I could hear Sadie in the back saying "CAAAMMMEEELSSS deener time!" (Camels! dinner time!)  She was so excited.  The weather was perfect and the drive was beautiful.  We got a little nervous when the GPS was telling us we were almost there but we were driving down a dirt road.  Also we hadn't seen any signs suggesting any kind of attraction whatsoever.  Other than pottery shops.  I think we passed at least a hundred different pottery shops.  I thought it was weird at the time but the history of it is actually kind of interesting.
"Bye Bye big bird, Night Night"-Sadie
Sadie LOVED this Ostrich.  She talked to it like they were best friends.  Then she said "Shoo!  Shoo! bird" "Cheep Cheep Cheep" She was sad to say goodbye so we told her he had to go night night.  She was ok after that.  I think it was because she didn't want to have to go night nights too.
I was impressed by the acrobatics that I was able to do to get myself out of that egg!  It hurt a little.

This girl is just like I was when I was little.  She has an obsession with rocks.  I love it that I see that part of me in her.

Tyson was amazing through all of this.  He did have a pretty nasty blow out when we got to the zoo though.  Luckily we know our kids and their proneness to major poopage so we were prepared.  It's amazing how much more skilled you are with your second kid then with your first.  If it would have happened when Sadie was a new born I probably would have cried.  It would have ruined my whole day.

OK so here is the 411 of the NC Zoo:
*Be ready to walk, A LOT.  Wear tennis shoes!
*The exhibits were great because the animals had a LOT of room to move around and be more "natural" but at the same time you might not see all of the animals because they have places to hide.  (The gorilla hid behind a log, Sadie was very disappointed.)  Maybe take binoculars if you have them.  In a way it makes it feel like a real safari because you don't really know what you're going to see.  We only made it through half of the park in 5 hours.  We were EXHAUSTED after!
*They charged 2$ to see the giraffes which was really really dumb.
*The indoor exhibits like the desert and the "swamp ghosts" were pretty lame.
*There were lots of drinking fountains and they even had air conditioned rest areas.
*If you stay until 5 stop by the chimpanzees.  They went CRAZY after they got fed.  They were so loud! It was pretty cool.

More Golf pics

Mini Golf

The attempt at mini golfing with Sadie wasn't quite a failure but it definitely wasn't a success either.  We had fun for the first 3 holes and then she was done.  It was SO HOT!  We forced ourselves to keep going because we didn't want to waste the 18 dollars we spent to play but at the ninth hole we just couldn't take the heat anymore.  It was really bad.  Mini golf wasn't quite Sadie's speed anyways.  Every time we hit the ball Sadie would retrieve it for us.  Poor little thing was drenched from running around so much.

A few more...

Here's a few more Sadieisms to end a fabulous Sunday night on.

-Outside of Tutti Melon a scantily clad women walks by;
S: Pointing says "NAKED NAKED NAKED!"

-A black man walks by us at Olive Garden
S:  Eyes light up and she yells "Mickey Mouse!!"

-Today while Skyping with my Mom;
S:  Wraps the Boppy around herself and says "Feed him" and points to Tyson and then points to the Boppy.
M:  Oh yeah?  How are you going to feed him?
S:  Feed him boobies.  (Grabs her chest)

Just Fishin'

I'm lost in her there holdin' that pink rod and reel.
She's doing almost everything but sittin' still.
Talkin' bout her ballet shoes and trainin' wheels,
and her kittens. And she thinks we're just fishin'.

I say Daddy loves you baby one more time,
she say's I know, I think I got a bite.
An all this laughin', cryin', smilin', dyin' here inside
is what I call livin'

(Chours)
An she thinks we're just fishin' on the river side,
throwin' back what we could fry,
drownin' worms an killin' time,
nothin' to ambitious
she ain't even thinkin' bout what's really goin' on right now
but I guarantee this memories a big'in
and she thinks we're just fishin'

She's already pretty, like her momma is
Gonna drive the boy's all crazy
giver her daddy fits
and I better do this every chance I get
'cause time is tickin'
(Chours)
An she thinks we're just fishin' on the river side,
throwin' back what we could fry,
drownin' worms an killin' time,
nothin' to ambitious
she ain't even thinkin' bout what's really goin' on right now
but I guarantee this memories a big'in
and she thinks we're just fishin'

She ain't even thinkin' bout what's really goin' on right now
but I guarantee this memories a big'in
and she thinks we're just fishin'
Yeah, aww she thinks we're just fishin'
We ain't only fishin'
This ain't about Fishin'

Updates

2 Months!

Tyson turned 2 months old on the 9th!  We celebrated by going to the doctors and getting shots.  Yay!  I was dreading it because both kids at the doctors seemed like it would be a nightmare.  Sadie hadn't had a nap (she refused) and Tyson hadn't eaten for a while.  I was prepared for the worst.  I think I've gotten the hang of taking care of both of them here at home.  But taking them out in public is another story!  I guess I'm getting better at it.  It still takes me an hour to get out the door but we didn't have any major problems at the clinic.  I tried not to make eye contact with all the people staring at me in the waiting room.  Sadie was running around like crazy but at least she wasn't crying!  After we went over to Tutti Melon (best treat EVER!) and shared a frozen yogurt.  It was fun to have that time together.  Plus Tutti Melon is heavenly so it was a good day.  Tyson is in the 83 percentile for weight and the 60th for height.  He weighed 12 lbs 11 oz and was 22 3/4 inches long.  Here are some things about our little Ty Ty:

*His best friend is the ceiling fan.  It makes a great baby sitter!  Just lay him underneath and he'll coo and laugh at it for hours.

*He is SUPER happy.  He smiles at me all day long.  I LOVE it!

*He still smells like sulfur for some reason.  I can't figure it out.

*He is getting better at getting his thumb in his mouth.  It's still pretty funny watching him try because he usually ends up punching himself in the face instead.  It's just a lot slower and more controlled.

*He was nicknamed by the gym ladies "butterball" we call him "butters"

*He started rolling over this past month

*His sister likes to poke him and say "boop boop boop"

*He still loves the bath.  He recently started splashing.

*He is sleeping 7-8 hours a night

*He likes to squeeze my finger while I feed him

*He can hold his head up!

We love our little Ty Ty so much!  Happy 2 month birthday Tyson!

While I'm at it I might as well update you on our little Sadie bug:

She is so fun!  She's like our own personal tornado.  She can destroy a clean house within a half hour.  Honestly!  I've seen it happen.  If she's in one of her moods it only takes her a few minutes.  I think she gets that skill from her Daddy :)

*She talks a lot!  She can speak in whole sentences, recognize her letters, sing songs, repeat EVERYTHING she hears (I said "Oh Crap!" the other day not realizing she was there and then I hear her cute little voice echo back "Oh Crap. Oh crap. Oh crap...)

*She says and does things at times that I've never said to her or taught her then I realize its usually stuff she's picked up from other kids or TV.  For example, we were at Walmart the other day and we were walking past the Angry Birds display.  A boy near us got all excited and was like "Look Mom!  Angry Birds!"  Later while we were in line there were some stuffed Angry Birds toys and I heard her say "Mom!  Angry Birds!"  So I let her hold one and she shoved it into Ty's face and said, "Angry Birds Ty!  Cheep Cheep TY!  Cheep Cheep!"  She's like a little sponge.

*She's getting pretty good at recognizing her colors and counting.  I amazed at how smart she is!

*She is the worlds biggest klutz.

*She loves to give kisses

*She is half way potty trained.  Some days she'll use the potty all day and others she wants nothing to do with it.  Oh well!

We love you Bug!
