Springfield

A few weekends ago Ben and I decided it was time to get out of St. Roberts so we looked online for things to do and we found a zoo in Springfield. So we called up our friends the Foxs' and headed out. The drive was beautiful. It was just after the first rain so the trees had just a touch of green, purple, and white. It was like driving through a watercolor painting. It felt so good to get away, it was the first time leaving the little town of St. Roberts since we got here.
The zoo was great because all of the animals were really active. My favorite was the Hippo. I think Sadie liked the lions the best. She growled at them a few times. I don't know where she learned that but its pretty funny. She also growls at the vacuum and blow dryer. Cute girl.
The goats were fun. I looked away for one second and when I looked back Sadie's foot was being eaten by a goat. It didn't bite her very hard (thank goodness). I don't think she even noticed.
After the zoo we explored the rest of Springfield. For you Utahns its a lot like Layton. I know, not great but it's the best I've got. We went to the mall so I could get some church shoes and some new clothes. Then we ate at Applebee's. I got a free salad because there was a rubber glove in my first. Yum! Despite that it was a pretty great day.

Easter Fun

Our first Easter with Sadie was great! The night before we decorated eggs. We only did 4 because we didn't want to be stuck with a dozen hard boiled eggs but it really wasn't that fun only having 2 eggs each to decorate. The Grandparents sent boxes of goodies to go in Sadie's basket so when she woke up we gave her all of her new Easter things. I think she liked it even if she didn't really know what was going on. I'm excited for next year when she'll be able to get excited about it. Then we had french toast and watched conference (which is hard to watch with a 5 month old!) Then we went on a walk because the weather was so nice. We passed houses having family parties and I got really home sick. I miss having family around! We Skyped with our families and it made it a little better. Sadie turned 5 months on Easter. She's growing up so fast. I'm amazed at how much she learns each month. This last month she learned how to roll over both ways, sit up on her own, eat solid foods, laugh, and scoot across the floor (not quite crawling because she can only go backwards). We had her doctors appointment and she weighs 15lbs 5oz which is the 75% and she is in the 25% for her height. The doctor also reported that she didn't hear a heart murmur anymore.

The New Place-Missouri

Our bedroom: I would have to say this is my least favorite part of the apartment. We were lucky to find a furnished apartment so at least our clothes have somewhere to go. The dresser drawers don't have stoppers on them so they fall out right on your toes. I loath those dressers. I didn't get a picture of the bathroom because it wasn't clean when I took the pictures and I'm just too lazy to do it now. But I think you can picture it: tub, toilet, sink. Also, every time I get out of the shower another tile cracks. It feels like I'm walking on egg shells. Whoever did the tile in this apartment did a really bad job. I think you can see it in the kitchen picture pretty well. The floor is all taped up so the broken tiles wont cut us.

Our view from the front of the apartment. Notice mine is the ONLY car in the parking lot. That's because from the hours of 5am to 5pm Sadie and I are the only people around. Everyone else is military in the whole building. It's good for when she is screaming but it can get really lonely. I try to fix this by going on a walk but usually I only see a dog or two and as you can see we are surrounded by forest so I run out of places to walk. I have to do two laps around the neighborhood just to get 3 miles in. There are lots of hills though so it makes for a pretty good work out. If I got really desperate I guess I could go on base to where the people are but something about the military base depresses me. I don't know, I guess driving down the road next to huge army vehicles intimidates me. Not to mention how drab everything is. Brown is definitely the army's favorite color. Plus, when they are using our tax dollars who can afford a decorator? I know its a good thing that our money isn't being wasted on making the base pretty but it still doesn't make it any easier to go there.
The kitchen and dining area. I like all of the space that the kitchen provides but we really don't need it since all we brought can fit into two cupboards. I have found comfort in the kitchen since we got here. I really don't have anything to do so trying new recipes has become a hobby to me. I don't know if I'm any good or not but I'm learning. Actually, since the only fast food available is Arby's and Burger king. Cooking became more of a necessity than anything. What I wouldn't do for a Carls jr...I'm actually really happy that I haven't eaten fast food in a month. I feel great!
Our front room also known as Sadie's room. We regret not having gotten a 2 bedroom apartment but when we got here there were only 3 apartments available, the first was smaller than this one and the second was a trailer. So here we are. After Sadie's bed time (9pm) we have to tip toe around and whisper. We usually go to bed by 10 anyways because Ben has to be up usually around 4 or 5 am so its not too bad. Overall I like this apartment better than the last one. Also our ward is amazing here. In my Logan ward people were still asking if I was new after being there for a year. It was really depressing. Ben and I got called to the primary our second week here and we love it. Plus everyone in the ward is military so its nice to have that support group. A lot of people that I have talked to have lived in North Carolina and they all loved it so I'm really excited to get there.

Such a bad day I have to vent about it on my blog...

I should have wrote this yesterday when my fury was in full swing but now I look back on yesterday and I realize that I was being a baby and the day really could have been a lot worse. It was a glass half empty kind of day. I had this whole long blog written about all of the things that made me mad yesterday but I read it and it was so negative! No one wants to read that stuff! So I erased it.
